Materials are the backbone of progression in Broken Blade. You need them to forge weapons, upgrade gear, reroll your Race/Element/Blessing, and unlock endgame content. This page covers every material currently available — including the new Space Ore and Red Orb from the Reforge the Yamato update — organized by category so you can quickly find what you need and where to farm it.
Materials are used for three main things: forging weapons (weapon pieces + boss materials), adding elemental stats during forge (Forge Elements), and rerolling your Race, Element, or Blessing (Reroll items). A few utility items like Boss Keys and Crimson Beherit unlock boss encounters that drop rare materials.
Weapon pieces drop from chests, regular enemies, and bosses on every island. Sword, Katana, and Buster pieces are separate — you only need the type that matches the weapon line you are building. Higher-tier pieces (Piece 3) are rarer and drop more reliably from bosses.
Fire Seeds drop from most enemies and chests. For bulk farming, run loops on Muspelheim or Helheim where enemy density is high. Bosses also drop Fire Seeds in larger quantities. You will need thousands for endgame weapons.
Forge Elements (Holy, Thunder, Storm, etc.) are materials consumed during weapon forging to add combat stats to your weapon. Character Elements (Fire, Thunder, Wind, Life, Earth, Water) are passive buffs rolled with Element Reroll items at level 500. They are completely separate systems.
Both drop from the new Space Invaders enemy on Midgard Island (Dungeon Island). This was added in the Reforge the Yamato update (June 2026). Space Ore is a crafting material; Red Orb is a currency you can spend at the Space Shop or use to forge Yamato.
Holy Grail and Sacrifice Piece are among the rarest — Holy Grail requires completing the Sky Spire challenge, and Sacrifice Piece only drops from Eclipse Island event bosses. Holy (the forge element) is also rare and highly valued for its stat boost.
