Recommended Route

Weapons are your primary source of damage in Broken Blade. Unlike games where weapons drop directly from enemies, Broken Blade uses a repair-and-craft system: you find the broken version of a weapon, gather its required materials, and repair it at a forge. Once crafted, you can further upgrade weapons through the Forge Master on Muspelheim and the Soul Forge on Jotunheim. There are currently 8 weapons across Sword, Katana, and Buster categories, ranging from 2-Star starter tools to 4-Star endgame goals like Excalibur, Moon Cut, and Dragon Slayer.

Weapon Type Comparison

Each weapon type has different strengths and synergies with Races, Elements, and Blessings. Pick the type that matches your playstyle.

Sword

Balanced Starter

Best For: New players, safe progression, balanced damage

Why It Works: Swords have the most beginner-friendly path starting with Wind Fang on Origin Island. The route scales cleanly to Excalibur (the strongest Sword). Elf + Fire + Tyr is the standard synergy.

When To Skip: You want faster attack speed (Katana) or heavier burst damage (Buster).

Pick This If: Pick Sword if you want the safest early route and a clear endgame target.

Katana

Speed Farming

Best For: Fast clearing, attack-speed builds, farming efficiency

Why It Works: Katana weapons favour fast-hit gameplay. Vanir + Wind + Loki or Frigg creates the best speed-farming setup. Moon Cut (4-Star) is the endgame Katana goal.

When To Skip: You prefer deliberate heavy hits or need raw burst for boss farming.

Pick This If: Pick Katana if you value clear speed and fast combat pacing.

Buster

Endgame Burst

Best For: Boss farming, late-game progression, high burst damage

Why It Works: Buster weapons have the strongest endgame scaling on paper. Nether + Thunder + Thor/Surtr/Odin supports massive burst. Dragon Slayer (4-Star) is the best-documented endgame weapon.

When To Skip: You are still learning boss patterns and prefer safer ranged or balanced combat.

Pick This If: Pick Buster if you want the strongest endgame payoff and can invest in the long grind.

How Weapon Forging Works

Step 1: Find the broken weapon

Every weapon in Broken Blade starts in a broken state. You find it somewhere in the game world — usually on a specific island. For example, Wind Fang is found on Origin Island, while Dragon Slayer requires Eclipse Island.

Step 2: Gather repair materials

Each broken weapon needs a specific set of materials: Money, Gems, weapon-type Pieces (Sword/Katana/Buster Pieces I-III), and Fire Seed. Higher rarity weapons also need special materials like Holy Grail, Moon Piece, or Sacrifice Piece.

Step 3: Forge the weapon

Once you have all materials, use the forge interface to repair your weapon. You can also apply Element Materials during forging — each element adds different stats like bonus damage, crit chance, crit damage, health, or lifesteal.

Step 4: Use and upgrade

After forging, your weapon is usable. But the real power comes from upgrading — both through the Forge Master NPC and the Soul Forge system.

Weapon Upgrade Systems

Forge Master NPC — Element Upgrade

Located on Muspelheim Island inside a small volcano behind the Ragaros boss. The Forge Master lets you upgrade the Element Materials used during forging. Each upgrade level requires additional elemental materials. This directly increases your weapon’s damage output.

Soul Forge — Soul Stone Enhancement

Found on the second level of the central tower on Jotunheim Island. The Soul Forge uses Soul Stones obtained from the Sky Spire challenge. This is a separate upgrade path that further boosts weapon power alongside the Forge Master upgrades.

Best Progression Paths By Weapon Type

Sword Path: Wind Fang → Night Whisper → Excalibur

Start with Wind Fang (2-Star) on Origin Island for cheap entry. Upgrade to Night Whisper (3-Star) on Muspelheim once you have 100+ Fire Seed saved. Push toward Excalibur (4-Star) on Jotunheim as your endgame Sword goal — it requires 3 billion Money and 100 Holy Grail.

Katana Path: Stone Cleaver → Light Scar → Moon Cut

Stone Cleaver (2-Star) on Origin Island is your Katana entry. Light Scar (3-Star) on Niflheim is the practical mid-game floor before Jotunheim content. Moon Cut (4-Star) on Nidavellir is the endgame target — farm 100 Moon Pieces alongside standard materials.

Buster Path: Soul Devourer → Dragon Slayer

Soul Devourer (3-Star) on Niflheim is expensive (300 of each Buster Piece) but necessary. Dragon Slayer (4-Star) on Eclipse Island is the most documented endgame route. Requires Sacrifice Pieces from boss farming. Pair with Nether race and Thunder element for maximum burst.

Best Weapon Picks By Goal

Not sure which weapon to aim for? Start with your current goal and work backwards.

Best beginner weapon

You just started Broken Blade and want the easiest weapon to craft first.

Main pick: Wind Fang (Sword, 2-Star)

Backup pick: Stone Cleaver (Katana, 2-Star)

Wind Fang is cheaper and simpler. Stone Cleaver costs more but starts your Katana path early if you prefer that route.

Best mid-game upgrade

You have outgrown your starter weapon and want a real power bump.

Main pick: Night Whisper (Sword, 3-Star)

Backup pick: Light Scar (Katana, 3-Star)

Both are solid 3-Star options. Night Whisper costs fewer materials overall; Light Scar is on Niflheim which is more accessible than Muspelheim for some players.

Best endgame weapon

You want the strongest weapon available and are willing to grind for it.

Main pick: Dragon Slayer (Buster, 4-Star)

Backup pick: Excalibur (Sword, 4-Star) or Moon Cut (Katana, 4-Star)

Dragon Slayer has the best-documented route and strongest endgame synergy. Excalibur and Moon Cut are equally strong but follow different type paths.

Best farming / speed clear weapon

You want to clear mobs and farm materials as fast as possible.

Main pick: Katana direction (Light Scar → Moon Cut)

Backup pick: Night Whisper (3-Star Sword)

Katana + Vanir + Wind gives the best speed-farming combination. Attack speed beats raw damage for farming efficiency.

Best bossing weapon

You want to kill bosses quickly for rare drops and materials.

Main pick: Buster direction (Soul Devourer → Dragon Slayer)

Backup pick: Excalibur (4-Star Sword)

Buster + Nether + Thunder with Odin or Surtr provides the strongest burst for boss fights. Pair with Thor blessing for extra damage.

Check the Tier List for detailed synergies

What is the best beginner weapon?

Wind Fang (2-Star Sword) is the cheapest and easiest first weapon, found on Origin Island. Stone Cleaver (2-Star Katana) is also available on Origin Island if you prefer the Katana path.

What is the best endgame weapon in Broken Blade?

Dragon Slayer (4-Star Buster), Excalibur (4-Star Sword), and Moon Cut (4-Star Katana) are the three endgame goals. Dragon Slayer has the most documented route with Eclipse Island farming and Sacrifice Pieces.

Where do you upgrade weapons in Broken Blade?

Two upgrade locations: the Forge Master NPC on Muspelheim Island (element material upgrades) and the Soul Forge on Jotunheim Island (Soul Stone upgrades from Sky Spire).

Should I focus on one weapon type?

Yes. Weapon pieces are type-specific (Sword/Katana/Buster Pieces). Spreading materials across types will slow your progression. Pick one path early and stick with it.

What materials should I save for weapon crafting?

Save Fire Seed above all — almost every recipe requires it. Also stockpile Gems and weapon-specific Pieces for your chosen type. For endgame, collect Holy Grail (Excalibur), Moon Piece (Moon Cut), or Sacrifice Piece (Dragon Slayer) as early as possible.
